‘The journey to a New Edo has started’ – Governor-elect, Senator Okpebholo

The Edo State Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has said the task towards building a New Edo has already began.

Senator Okpebholo stated this in his acceptance speech after being presented with the Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Spark News Daily reports that the Governor-elect and his deputy received their Certificate of Return at the INEC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

Senator Okpebholo, who is visibly ready to hit the ground rolling, said having received the Certificate of Return, the journey to a new Edo has begun.

According to him, “The journey to a New Edo has started with this mandate of the good people of Edo State.

“Wth my partner and Deputy Governor-elect, Rt. Hon Dennis Idahosa, we are committed to addressing the yearning for a new Edo state full of equal opportunities and development for all. And so, we are ready to hit the ground running to fulfil all our campaign promises”.

The Senator specially thank all his supporters and party faithful who worked day and night to ensure his victory at the poll.

“I want to particularly thank our father, our leader; our President and Commander In-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering support for true democracy. Sir, we appreciate you”.

“I also want to thank the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Senator Kashim Shetima, the President of the Senate; Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Speaker of the House of Representatives; Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbass and all my colleagues at the National Assembly for their constant encouragement and words of advice.

“My special appreciation goes to our National Chairman of APC; Alhaji Abdullai Umar Ghaduje, and the Progressive Governors led by Dr. Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo state.

“I will not forget the energy and determination of our leader, our own Comrade, Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, and other political leaders across the three senatorial districts of Edo state.

“My profound appreciation to our royal fathers for their constant words of wisdom, prayers, and guidance, especially the Oba of Benin; His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare 11, who is also my father”.

The governor-elect, however, congratulated his fellow contestants and called on them to join in building a New Edo of our dream.

“I congratulate my fellow contestants for their sportsmanship throughout the electioneering exercise. The people have spoken, and the ultimate winners are the good people of Edo state.

“I hereby extend the hand of fellowship to you, so we can all build a New Edo of our Dream”.
