Anambra Guber: Group faults Gov Soludo, purchases form for Prof Okonkwo
Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Anambra State, a political group, Anambra Coalition for Progressives Change (ACPC) has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, the chairman of the United Nigeria Airlines Company Limited.
Addressing news men at the APC media centre on Wednesday after picking the forms, the group’s coordinator, Chief Cyril Ndubuisi explained why the coalition decided to purchase the forms for Prof. Okonkwo.
According to him, the present governor, Prof. Charles Soludo has failed to give to the people of the state what they want.
Ndubuisi lamented that under the present administration led by Prof. Soludo, the state is living below expectations.
“I want to show to the media what we have come here to do today. We came to obtain the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for a very big masquerade.
“We raised the fund, N50 million in order to secure the forms because we have the interest of the state at heart.
“The present governor of the state has not given the people what they want. Therefore, in the search to get somebody that is capable of providing for Anambra, having looked around and see that the state is not living up to expectations, we began to look for an individual that has the track records and pedigrees to bring back our state to where it ought to be.
“After a careful analysis, we decided that the right person to occupy that position from next year is Prof. Obiora Okonkwo”, he said.
Spark News Daily reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed 8 November 2025 for the conduct of the Anambra governorship election.
The party primaries will be held from March 20, 2025, to April 10, 2025.
