Bovi faults Peseiro for AFCON loss

Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has faulted Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro for his team’s defeat against Cote d’Ivoire in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday night.

Nigeria lost 2-1 to the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, after taking the lead in the second half.

Bovi took to his X handle blaming coach Peseiro’s tactics for the three-time African champions’ defeat.

He said Peseiro’s strategy of relying on defense rather than attack was what caused Super Eagles’ defeat, stressing that he would have still been unhappy even if Nigeria had won.

“Blame the coach. We are a footballing nation of flare. Fluidity, through passes, dribbles, attack. Not all out defence. Even if we’d won, I would still be pissed. The style was evidently alien to the players”, he wrote.

Nigeria’s skipper, William Troost-Ekong was named the player of the tournament.
