Breaking: APC fixes new date for Edo gov’ship primary, says previous election inconclusive

The national leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), has said the Saturday's 17th February governorship primary election in Edo State is inconclusive. 

Consequently, the party has fixed Thursday February 22, 2024 for the completion of the primary election process.

This development was contained in a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barr. Felix Morka and made available to Spark News on Tuesday in Abuja,

The statement reads, “At its emergency meeting held today, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, to consider the report on the Edo State Governorship Primary Election, the National Working Committee (NWC) deliberated on the report and resolved that the Edo State Governorship Primary Election has not been completed, and has now fixed Thursday February 22, 2024 for the completion of the Primary Election Process”.

Spark News recalls that the said primary election which was held in Benin City, the state capital has generated a lot of controversies with the chairman of the election committee, governor Hope Uzodinma declaring Hon. Dennis Idahosa as the winner, while the state returning officer, Ugboaja Stanley, announced Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner.

The crisis became compounded when the Edo North billionaire, Hon. Amanero Dekeri, in tacit consent with some party members, declared himself the winner of the primary.
