Breaking: Appeal Court upholds Asue Ighodalo’s candidacy

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the candidacy of Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

The Appeal Court set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court I in Abuja.

A three-member panel of the appellate court on Monday nullified the judgment of Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo delivered on July 4, on the grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit of the aggrieved delegates in the first place.

Besides, the Court of Appeal held that those who instituted the suit lacked the necessary legal standing to do so.

The appellate court ruled that the Federal High Court cannot interfere with how the PDP selected its candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
