A report had it that the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Gold medalist was on a drip and snoring on his sick bed while receiving treatment.
Oruma was instrumental as Nigerian powered their way through to the semi-final of the Olympic Games in 1996 before beating Brazil and then Argentina to claim gold.
In a chat with Punch, Oruma’s ex-teammate Joseph Dosu said:
“I saw the video as well and I have been trying to find out what really happened to Wilson.”
Sunday Oliseh added: “Wilson Oruma? Not again. It’s unfortunate. I feel for him and I wish him speedy recovery.”
Oruma retired from professional football in 2006 but was reportedly duped of about N2billion while trying to invest in the oil and gas sector.
He consequently suffered emotional trauma, and at some point, former president of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick made efforts to assist the ex-international.
It was gathered that Pinnick, who is a FIFA Executive Council member, paid his outstanding hospital bills at that time and relocated him to a better-equipped one in his bid to rehabilitate him.
