Eight-year-old boy rescued alive from canal by Lagos fire service

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued an eight-year-old boy, Onyeka Umeh from an open water at the end of Pastor Ojediran Street behind Oba's Palace; Ejigbo, Lagos.

A statement released by Adeseye Margeret, director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, said the Ejigbo Fire Station received a distress call at about 15:20.hours that Umeh alongside a friend was picking pet bottles among others around the canal before trailing it to his sinking spot while his companion raised the alarm leading to his eventual rescue alive.

Adeseye advised Parents to keep children away from canals and other dangerous places as well as provide them with the much needed guidance to preserve their safety.
