The prosecutor’s office in the Paris suburb of Nanterre said Hakimi was questioned on Thursday by investigators probing r*pe allegations. He was then indicted by an investigating judge and placed under judicial supervision.
The Morocco national team player is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim, a 24-year-old woman who says she was r*ped by Hakimi on Saturday at his home in a Paris suburb. Hakimi is allowed to leave French territory, prosecutors said.
According to his lawyer, Fanny Colin, Hakimi, 24, “firmly denies all the accusations against him” and welcomes the investigation because “he finally has the possibility to defend himself”.
“The club supports the player, who has firmly denied the accusations and trusts the justice system,” PSG said in a statement on Thursday.
“Paris St-Germain is an institution that promotes respect on and off the pitch.”
The 24-year-old woman accused the Moroccan international of r*ping her at his home in a Paris suburb on February 25 after he allegedly invited a woman to his home while his wife and kids were on holiday.
According to Le Parisien, the 24-year-old defender began talking to the woman on January 16 on Instagram. He allegedly then invited her to his home in Boulogne on Saturday, reportedly ordering her an Uber to transport her.
The Spanish-born Hakimi is a defender who helped Morocco make World Cup history last year by becoming the first African team to reach the tournament’s semi-finals. He was seen training with PSG on Friday.
Hakimi appeared on stage at the FIFA Awards in Paris on Monday. He was honoured as part of the player-voted men’s all-star team.
