2024 Budget is tagged Renewed Hope – President Tinubu says

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has referred to the 2024 Appropriation as the budget of the Renewed Hope of Nigerians. 

The President who presented the 2024 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly today Wednesday, said the priority of the proposed budget is the Renewed Hope Agenda.

 

“The theme and priority of the 2024 budget is, Distinguished and Honourable members, permit me to highlight key issues relating to the budget for the next fiscal year (2024).

 

“The 2024 Appropriation has be tagged Budget of the Renewed Hope. The proposed budget seeks to achieve economy growth, micro-economics stability, a better investment environment, enhance development, as well as poverty reduction and food security.

 

He noted that defence and internal security are recorded as top priorities of the budget. 

 

“The internal security architecture will be fine-tuned to enhance law enforcement capability and safeguards lives, properties and investments across the country.

 

While acknowledgimg that human capital is the source of national development, the President said the government priotize human capital development with focus on children which are the foundation of our nation.

The former Lagos State governor, hinted that to improve the effectiveness of the budget performance, government will focus on ensuring value for money, greater transparency and accountability. 

 

“On this regards, we’ll work with development partners and the private sector to be able to address long standing issues in every sector.

 

“A more sustainable budget of funding tertiary education will be implemented, including the students loan scheme planned to become operational by January 2024”, he said.

 

Spark News reports that the 2024 budget of N27.5 trillion was presented by Mr President. The breakdown shows: Recurrent, N9.92 trillion, Capital, N8.7 trillion and Debt Services, N8.5 trillion, among others.
