2025 UTME: Our duty is to set education at globa level – Sen Muntari
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Dandutse Mohammed Muntari, said on Friday 25th April 2025, that part of the lawmakers responsibilities as stakeholders in Education, is to ensure that Nigeria Educational System is upgraded to meet global standard.

He said this during an oversight visit to Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3 Abuja, to monitor the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the Senator, the oversight function is to ensure that there is accountability and transparency in every aspect of government activities.

“As leadership of the National Assembly, we are here today to witness this very important development, hence the responsibility given to us as stakeholders is to ensure that Nigeria is set in a global arena as regards to the educational system.
“This (UTME) is one of the foundations that makes the Nigeria educational system” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of Education, Muntari commended JAMB’s Registrar for totally eradicating malpractices from its activities and bringing transparency and sanity to the sector.

In his words, he said, “I have seen it as a stakeholder, JAMB has trackers everywhere in the country, where they monitor all the centres with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) throughout the nation.
“They also set standards of making sure that nobody is given admission without passing the exams”.
While noting that every Nigerian child deserves to be given an opportunity to study in a conducive atmosphere to enable them to serve as future leaders, he charged them to prioritize studying in Nigeria to foster development in the country.
