Mailonline reports that the shot-stopper is set to become Erik ten Hag’s second signing of the summer after Inter agreed to sell the Cameroon goalkeeper in a deal worth up to £47.1million.
United will pay an initial fee of £43.7m plus potentially another £3.4m in add-ons for Onana who will sign a five-year contract with the option of a 12-month extension.
The 27-year-old flew into Birmingham airport and settled down for the night before heading to United’s Carrington training complex on Wednesday to complete his medical.
Onana has already agreed personal terms with the club and will be announced as United’s new No 1 once he has successfully passed all pre-transfer checks.
Onana enjoyed a low-key departure as he arrived at Milan airport in a black Mercedes van and was seen arriving with a small-numbered entourage.
