APC Inaugurates Campaign Council, says party ready to reclaim Edo 

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday inaugurated its campaign council for the September 21 governorship election in the state. 

The inauguration, which was held at the party’s secretariat in Benin City, had APC bigwigs across the 18 local government areas in attendance.

The campaign council is chaired by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor of the state and now senator representing Edo north senatorial district in the National Assembly, while Sen. Mathew Urhoghide, is the campaign Director-General.

The Council is also made up of 36 Directorates, Deputy Director General of operations, administration, secretary, and coordinators in the three senatorial districts.

In his inaugural speech, Oshiomhole, expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim the state in the governorship election, while urging members to work hard to win their various units, wards and local government respectively.

He said with senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon Dennis Idahosa, as the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the party, the party is sure of victory at the poll.

“Titles does not matter and, I urged every member of the party in the state to work hard to win their units and wards. Every member is canvasser”, the Senator said.

The Director General of the Campaign Council, Senator Urhoghide, who maintained the same view with the chairman, urged members to work hard, saying the task of defeating an incumbent government was huge.

He also admonished party members to resolve their differences and work hard for the victory of the party.

Speaking earlier, state chairman of the party, Jarrett Tenebe, said by the inauguration, APC has commenced the journey to reclaim Edo State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On his part, the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo promised not to disappoint the party and the people of the state if given the mandate to govern.

He pledged to restore the lost glory of the state in infrastructural, human capital and socioeconomic developments.

Also speaking, the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Hon Dennis Idahosa, assured that the Monday Okpebholo-led government would attract Foreign Direct Investment and investors to the state economy.
