They also claimed that the planned attack is intended to make Kano State ungovernable in the event of a Supreme Court judgement in favour of the APC.
Giving update on the current situation in the state during a press briefing at the Party’s Secretariat today in Abuja, Engr. Rabiu Sulaiman, the Campaign Director for Dr Nasiru Gawuna, said NNPP has vowed to unleash violence on APC members.
“Gentlemen of the press, things appear to be getting worse since the embattled leader of the NNPP Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso came back to Kano on Sunday, where he held a meeting of the party’s stakeholders, at the end of which they came up with line up of activities that included unleashing of violence to not only eliminate the APC in Kano but also to make it ungovernable in the event of Supreme Court judgement in favour of the APC”, he said.
He said the people of Kano have been living in perpetual fear of intimidation and threat to life and property, since the assumption of office, starting with the orgy of violence by elements of the NNPP, targeted at the APC.
Engr. Sulaiman said they are aware from reliable sources that NNPP is planning a mass protest on Saturday during which key figures of the APC will be targeted, if possible eliminated.
While stating that the members of APC are law-abiding citizens, and will not hesitate to protect their lives and belongings, called on the Kano state police command and other security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and take appropriate measures to foils the attacks.
Spark News recalls that the appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices nullified the election of Governor Abba Yusuf, uphelding the ruling of the Kano State Election Petition Tribunal had on September 20, which declared Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the APC, as the valid winner of the governorship poll held in the state on March 18.
