APC stakeholders in FCT expresses concern over Wike’s appointment as Minister
Stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, in the Federal Capital Territory FCT has expressed concern over the appointment of former governor of River state, Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the City.
The FCT Working Committee of the party made their worries known when they paid a congratulatory visit to the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the party’s secretariat on Tuesday in Abuja.
Speaking through the FCT chairman, Hon. Abdulmalik Usman, the stakeholders are particularly concerned over the non-membership of Wike, noting that the minister of FCT is the head of FCT Chapter of APC.
“Mr chairman, today we’re here at the National secretariat to congratulate you and to welcome you into the City as your landlord.
“We also want you to know that whoever becomes the FCT minister, becomes our leader, and now that we’re having a minister from another political party, how do we work?
Responding, Dr. Ganduje who said he was the Secretary of the Presidential Committee that drafted the future administration of the FCT over 30 years ago, simply noted, “I know we have problems and it will be resolved”.
“I will not like to reveal our strategy as a politician, but all what I know is we’ll sit down with the senior minister, with the junior minister, with the minister from FCT and then with the national chairman and our representatives and the chairman of Gwagwalada, Kwali and Kuje who are APC.
The senior minister, eventhough he belongs to another party but he’s an action man. And Mr president is aware of the politics of this place.
While recounting how their request for a ministerial position was granted by Mr president, the National chairman assured them that their concerns will be addressed as they look forward to taking over FCT once again in the area council election.
“You made a request that ministers be appointed without a representative from FCT, but today we have one from FCT, a politician because he was the chairman of AMAC twice.
“So, members of the FCT Council of our great party, we thank you for coming and we assure you we’ll swing into action to make sure FCT is APC”, he stated.
