Apostle Selman faults parent for their children’s unharness gifts
Nigerian televangelist and convener of ‘Koinonia’, a non-denominational Christian fellowship, Apostle Joshua Selman has said parents are responsible for the harnessed gifts of their children.
According to him many people buried their gifts in order to honour the desire of their parents.
Addressing his congregants recently during a fellowship meeting, the cleric queried that God given gifts and abilities are wasted away by parents for their failure to identify and guide their children in harnessing them.
“Let me tell you where most of you buried your gifts. It came because of the tragedy of your foundation. Some of the giftings that were finding expression, it was the Holy Spirit revealing them to let those around us know that this noise making ability is not just talkativeness, there is something in it. But it was mismanaged.
“There were children with different abilities that if parents had the discernment to identify, the awareness of these giftings should have helped the parents to direct the children eventually on what they should study or become.
“Unfortunately, many people bury their gifts to be able to honour the desire of their parents”, he lamented.
While emphasizing that there is nobody without God-given gift, Apostle Selman said when you fail to discover your giftings, and the things that are valuable within you, Satan would make you feel less of yourself.
Adding that you would begin to admire other people who do not have the components of the values that are within you.
He counseled that every gift must be connected to a purpose, saying without which it does not have value.
“The value of anything is with respect to its connection to purpose and destiny. So just obtaining things and not connecting them to purpose will only be acquisitions that will lead to futility.
“Your gift must be connected to purpose. You must make a commitment that everything God has put within you must be identified and connected to purpose”, he said.
The highly anointed servant of God warned that when a gift is not connected to purpose, Satan comes for it and uses it for a purpose not intended by God.
