Decamped former deputy governor leads founding members to return to APC, declares their loyalty

The former deputy governor of Niger State, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto, yesterday led other founding members of the All Progressives Congress in the state to return to the party.

Spark News recalls that Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto who was the deputy to Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu in 2007 to 2015, dumped APC for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in 2018.

Alhaji Ibeto, with two other returnees, Hon. Ibrahim Ebbo, former Commissioner for Works and Hon Idris Azozo, former Commissioner for Water Resources in Niger State, stormed the national headquarters of the party to declare their return to APC.

Addressing the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and members of the National Working Committee NWC, Alhaji Musa Ibeto pledged their loyalty to the party.

While congratulating Dr. Ganduje for his achievements, particularly the influx of members into the party and the election victories in Kogi and Imo States, he stated that they have every reason to return to the party.

“I don’t want to go into the issues of why we left the party, but we’ve every reason to return and we do not owe an apology to anybody. We presently have the cooperation of both the party and the government to come back.

“What we fought for, what we thought we could get is a leadership that’s people oriented – concerned about the welfare of the people. We lacked it, and we left.

“We interacted with the Governor of Niger State and we knew how assiduously he has worked to ensure that not only that we the founding members but also members of other political parties come into APC.

“He also ensured us that we’re fully accepted into the party right from our various wards and Local Government Areas to the State Working Committee.

“So, on behalf of all my colleagues that are here and those that are not here, I pledge that all of us are willing, any time any day, to do our best to ensure that this party succeeds not only in Niger State but throughout the country”, he said.

In his response, Dr. Ganduje said their return was a welcome development for the party.

“My brother, the former deputy governor, has come back home. This is a new development, and it’s a welcome development for APC.

“From what we are planning, 2027 will be a better followership and a better victory for APC.

“Even though Niger State has been an APC State, there’s no doubt that we’re increasing our strength and followership, especially with the return of these three gentlemen who are representing other big dignitaries who couldn’t make it here.

“So, we assure you, you’ll be fully integrated”, he said.
