Festus Keyamo apologises to Senate; scale through ministerial screening

Festus Keyemo has tendered unreserved apology to the Nigeria Senate over unruly conduct towards the 9th National Assembly.

The Senate had earlier taken a resolution to stepped down the screening of Festus Keyamo following his resfusal to appear before the 9th Senate and House of Representatives to explain the issues surrounding the payment to N20,000 to Nigerians as Covid-19 palliatives, when he was the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity during Buhari’s administration.

A resolution which threw the hollowed chamber into rowdy session and resulted into a close door session to enable them address the issue.

On resumption, Festus Keyamo tendered apology to the Senate. Thereafter, the Senate asked him to take a leave through a motion which was unanimously adopted by the lawmakers.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), majestically approached the chair and took a bow, and walked away.

45 ministerial nominees have been screened by the Senate, bringing the screening to a close.
