
It was a moment of joy as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the people of Edo State gathered to celebrate the Supreme Court verdict affirming Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of the State.
The victory party which was held at Wuse zone 2, Abuja on Thursday, had in attendance several notable political heavyweights, including, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State, Dr. Mary Alile, APC national women leader, Engr. Lawrence Okah, Edo APC Secretary, Sen. Mathew Urokhide, DG Governor’s Election Campaign Council, and Gen. Sesi Esekhaigbe, leader, Edo central senatorial district.
Others are, Hon. Patrick Ikhariale, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, Hon. Lanre, Hon. Victor Egboide, Mike Ozokhome, Special Advisers to the Governor, former Commissioners and Council chairmen, Edo State House of Assembly members, led by the Deputy Speaker, just to mention but a few.
Prevail Inegbenose, Spark News, Editor-In-Chief, who was on ground reports that the victory party was a celebration of a hard-won triumph, marking the end of a lengthy and challenging legal battle. It reflected the collective joy and relief of the Governor and the people of Edo who had persevered through difficulties to achieve a favorable outcome.
The party was not only a celebration of victory, but also a moment to reflect on Governor Okpebholo’s immense works towards transforming the State within his few months in office.
In his remarks, Governor Okpebholo said, “ I thank the President, Bola AhmedTinubu, we won because his name is a symbol of victory. I also thank the Oba of Benin and my leader, Senator Adams Oshiomhole for this victory.
Continuing, the visibly elated Governor acknowledged his creator, “I want to thank the Almighty God, who felt the hearts of the people and granted their deserves for a change in the State.
He pledged to continue with his good works, emphasizing that the people voted for him to bring about the desired change in the State.
“I’m going to partner with my deputy to move Edo forward. We will reposition it to become a modern city”, the Governor said.
The Supreme Court verdict has undoubtedly made the people of the State to heave a sigh of respite, knowing that the Governor will now be more focused to continue his good works to transform Edo into an enviable state among the states of the Federation.
