The suspension which is on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, was disclosed in a public notice by NIS’s spokesperson, DCI KT Udo.

He said services to be affected include passport issuance and renewals requiring biometric capturing, and other immigration and banking services provided at the headquarters.

“All applicants and members of the public are advised to make necessary arrangements to visit the NIS Headquarters after the said date,” Udo said.

“The NIS online portal will remain operational to serve your needs.”

The official, however, expressed regret over any inconvenience the disruption may cause and thanked the public for their understanding.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary shutdown may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” he said.
