It got me thinking; I don’t know about you.

It was like one of those days that you don't really feel like studying the bible...

But you’ve to because you’re duty bound to do so.

Well, in case you don’t know, this is 100% true. It is not always exciting to study the bible. Sometimes, it can be boring and uninteresting; yet we press to study it.

Ok, while I was pressing, on one of such days, a scripture lighted upon me.

And it got me thinking and asking!

Why would a full fledged man in his right senses sell his birthright for a plate of meal?

“…He sold his birthright unto Jacob…Thus Esau despised his birthright”, Gen 25:31-34

As I patiently waited to receive an answer from the Holy Spirit, a strong thought struck my heart.

What was it? “There are so many people living on the earth today who like Esau, despise the gift, privilege, grace and life that God has given to them.”

Hmmmm, I was one of them; maybe you were too or still one of them. I remember those days…

When I used to ask God to take my life because it was full of challenges,

When I used to attend church without having a meaningful walking relationship with God,

When I used to think grace was given to us to continue in sin,

When I used to come to church at my own time – go to work early but come to church late,

When I used to walk in and out of the church without rendering kingdom service,.

When I used to get angry at the servants of God because I feel they are the one spending the monies,

When I used to argue about the payment of tithe and worship offerings, and so on.

Hear this, anytime we refuse to honour God with our lives the way it ought to be, we have despised the right, privileg, grace and life that God has given us.

And to despise simply means to treat it as not important or neglect the value of it.

The bible says Esau despited his birthright. Therefore, in all thy doing refuse to be like Esau.

I pray for you, your existence shall honour God in Jesus mighty name.
