As a result, Dr Bosun Tijani narrowly scaled through the ministerial screening, as the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio asked him to take a bow and go, a decision which seems not to have gone down well with the Senators.
At the floor of the Upper legislative chamber, a tweet by Dr Bosun Tijani in 2019, in which he allegedly insulted Nigeria, was brought to notice.
He was alleged to have twitted that it was a bloody waste of time to have a Nigerian passport in 2019.
Also called to notice was his tweet in 2021, in which he allegedly referred to the Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as morons.
The lawmakers noted that since the nomination of Dr Tijani by president Tinubu was announced, the Nigerian populace have be divided over him.
When asked if he’s still a Nigerian following his comment about Nigeria passport, Dr Bosun Tijani said his comment was borne out of the sheer frustration he encountered at the Chinese embassy in US, where his Visa was delayed for two because he was a Nigerian.
He further explained that his passion has always been to help lift Nigeria in the ICT world, but the battered image of the country has been a resistance to his efforts,
When asked to apologise to the lawmakers by the Senate President, rather than apologising properly, Dr Tijani insisted that his comment was not meant to spite the lawmakers.
His manner of apology further infuriated the lawmakers, causing the Senate President to quickly wade in once again.
Dr Bosun Tajina then properly apologised, and the Senate President urged the Senators to treat him as a son, saying “We’re all fathers here, let us treat him as one of our sons”.
Bosun Tijani, the CEO, and co-founder of CcHub, took a bow and left.
However, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio hinted that what the Senate is doing now is to screen the nominees, and that their confirmation is for another meeting and day.
