Motion to introduce Multichoice ‘Pay As You Go’ tariff plan suffers setback
The motion to order Multichoice Digital Satellite Television (DSTV), and other service providers introduce 'Pay As You Go' tariff plan in Nigeria suffered a setback in the floor of the House of Representatives.

The motion titled, “Need for the Multichoice Digital Satellite Television (DSTV), and other Service Providers to Introduce the Pay As You Go Tariff (PAYG) Plan in Nigeria”, was sponsored by Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, representing Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
On hearing the motion on 20th July, 2023, the lawmakers noted that it was against Order Nine, and Rule Five, which bar the House of Representatives from deliberating on a subject that is already before the court of law.
On that note, the Deputy Speaker, Hon.Benjamin Kalu, who was presiding over the plenary in the absence of the Speaker, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, stepped down the motion.
DSTV operates a fixed monthly Tariff Plan in Nigeria while it allegedly runs a ‘pay as you go’ tariff plan in some other countries.
