Real Estate Broker, Chi Marchie Speaks on how to own Property in US

As real estate executives held a Master Class/Dinner meeting in Abuja, a US-based real estate broker, Chi Marchie, has enlightened Nigerians on how to own a property in the United States of America.

Speaking with Journalists during the programme held in Barcelona hotel on Tuesday, Mrs. Marchie said the Master Class is designed to create awareness that real estate business can be done outside the shores of one’s country or continent.

She said the world has gone global because of advancement in technology, adding that one may be in Nigeria and extend his business to America or any other part of the world.

“The real estate executive master class is to create that awareness that your real estate business is not just around you, it could be outside your country; you cannot just invest here, you can also invest in real estate in the US”, she stated.

When asked what it takes to own a property in the US, Mrs. Marchie said it’s very easy to have a residential, commercial or landed property in the US, but noted that there are ways to go about it.

The US-based real estate broker said a buyer can pay in full or have a bank (lender company) to finance the property of his choice.

In the case of having a lender company to finance the property, she said an initial deposit of 30 percent of the total sum would be made by the buyer while the balance will be paid by the bank, with the buyer having to pay back in installments as agreed between him and the bank.

For the documentations, she said the buyer would provide a proof of income (two months bank statements) to substantiate his financial credibility.

Other documents, according to her include two years tax clearance, passport data page, and three letters of reference from reputable banks.

Mrs. Marchie said the most exciting part of it is that the buyer may not need to travel down to the US to seal the transaction, noting that the “Title Company will send the documents to the American Embassy here in Nigeria where you can get the purchase transaction finalized”.

She further noted that the system is devoid of risk of embezzlement of funds, saying the real estate company does not receive funds but only relates with the Title Company which is being engaged by the buyer to handle all the transactions.

“One thing I want to assure Nigerians is that their money is secured. I want to build that confidence in them. We have done it, I have helped no less than four people here in Nigeria to secure their homes in the US”, she added.
